How can we infuse SEL into our lessons? How do we do it seamlessly without overdoing it?
- Case study: using case study to infuse SEL in lesson - moral of story: using a story to show certain values in lesson - Project/group work (encourage teamwork) - taking other perspective
Before the start of lesson (involving group work), students will be briefed on the requirements of the assessment. Peer Evaluation of group mates will be conducted after the students have completed their group work. Student will be given a rubric as guideline.
We can come up with rubrics during group work which allows students to have peer assessment of their group mates. We may want to take their peer assessment of each other into account when we grade their projects.
Group students with diverse background, so that they can learn to work with differences. During group discussion, teacher can go from group to group to observe the group dynamics.
We can infuse SEL through group work and circle time. We can also make use of teachable moments to share SEL values with our classes.
